Jean Stapleton

I’ve had a lifelong adoration for Jean Stapleton having grown up watching her on “All in the Family” as Edith Bunker.  I wrote to Ms. Stapleton in 1995 to not only tell her how much I admired her work but also to inquire if she had any idea where I could find a copy of her made-for-TV movie  “Aunt Mary” (1979).  This sweet woman not only sent me one signed 8×10 and two signed index cards, she also wrote me a handwritten note that told me where I could try to find “Aunt Mary”.

The 8×10 on the right was acquired through Todd Mueller Autographs in 2015.

When Jean passed in 2013, I wept.  Hard.  She’s only the third celebrity whose passing made me emotional (Carroll O’Connor and Johnny Carson being the other two).
