Who could forget the sadistic Douglas Neidermeyer in Animal House who, later in the ’80s, reprised his role in the Twisted Sister music videos?  I sure as hell didn’t and fondly recall memorizing his opening speeches when I was a teenager to drop ’em on my friends that, along with me, were Twisted Sister fans.  I wrote Metcalf and he responded in the perfect way — calling me “worthless and weak” and commanding me to “drop and give (him) 20!”  I had left a P.S. in the letter and asked him if he had known about the inside joke in John Landis’ Twilight Zone: The Movie in which one of the soldiers mentions regretting that they fragged Sgt. Neidermeyer…to which Metcalf replied on a signed index card “Neidermeyer cannot die!”  All in all, one of my favorite acquisitions of the year.
